Inside the Door

Solid, insulated and built to last.

A composite door is built in layers, and each one does a job. Here is what goes into every door we fit.

Four layers, one solid door

  • Thick GRP skins. Glass-reinforced plastic with a realistic woodgrain texture. It won’t crack, warp, rot or delaminate, and never needs painting.
  • High-density polyurethane core. Fills the whole leaf, so the door feels solid and holds the heat in.
  • LVL inner frame. Laminated veneer lumber gives the leaf its strength, encased in composite stiles and rails so water can’t get in.
  • Sprayed colour finish. 19 colours or any RAL shade. White inside as standard, or coloured on both sides for a small extra cost.

A U-value of 1.4 W/m²K or better, far warmer than the timber and uPVC doors most of our customers replace.

Quiet

Cuts street noise

The dense, layered leaf cuts street noise noticeably, and the door closes with a reassuring, solid sound.

Guaranteed

Every door we fit carries our 20-year guarantee, and the door leaf has a 25-year life expectancy.

Built to keep burglars out.

Most break-ins start at a door. Every door we fit is tested against attack and fitted to lock tight into a reinforced frame.

Tested against attack

Door leaves are tested to PAS 24, the security standard that UK Building Regulations call for on new doors.

Kitemarked anti-snap cylinders, the highest rating under the British standard for door cylinders.

Multi-point locking

Two hooks, two finger bolts and a central deadbolt engage into a reinforced frame. An auto-engage lock that secures itself when the door closes is available.
